Peawanuck support worker trainees fundraise for Syrian Refugees
How does a fly-in, isolated Northern Ontario community help Syrian refugees? In Peawanuck, community members decided to host a penny and bake sale.
In early December a group of students enrolled in the Canadian Red Cross Personal Support Worker (PSW) course hosted a fundraiser at the Peawanuck community hall. Each of the six students contributed to the fundraiser by donating an item for the penny sale and bringing in baked goods and selling plates of turkey.
