Families in Eabametoong FN benefit from upgrades to Community Healing and Wellness Centre

Eabametoong (Fort Hope) First Nation families will benefit from improved access to health, wellness and cultural programming thanks to an investment of more than $78,000 from the Government of Canada.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament for the Kenora riding, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

The funding will support renovations and upgrades to the Eabametoong First Nation Community Healing and Wellness Centre. This investment will help ensure accessibility to a variety of community programs and services that promote physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness, as well as the sharing of traditional knowledge.

“This investment will help to improve essential infrastructure assets for Eabametoong First Nation which, in turn, will help to improve the overall quality of life. By providing First Nation communities with the tools they need to develop and grow, we are contributing to the long-term social, cultural and economic development of the entire region,” stated Nault.

This investment is being allocated under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, a $300 million fund that was established to celebrate Canada’s 150 birthday through investments in the community spaces that bring Canadians together. Of that amount, $10.4 million is being invested across Northern Ontario.
