The first of four youth empowerment camps being held across Treaty 3 kicked off Monday August 12, in Couchiching First Nation.
Effort, skills and determination make good leadership qualities and that is the goal of a groundbreaking series of Youth Empowerment camps taking place in four communities across Treaty 3 this month.
The first one being held in Couchiching First Nation runs from August 12-16; Assabaska Park (Big Grassy First Nation) will host the camp August 1923: and Grassy Narrows will host August 20-22 with a canoeing trip planned in the Dryden region for the last week of August.
The camps are a first step in the development of an all-‐new Centre for Good Life & Leadership for Aboriginal youth by Oshki Aa-yaa’aag Mino Bimaadiziiwin (Good Life for Young People), a charitable non-profit organization founded in 2005, whose mission is bringing to life the dreams and potential of young Anishinaabeg, with the support of their families and communities.
