Well, we still have point-of-sale tax exemption when the new HST takes effect. A nice victory. Although it won’t happen until September as a process is figured out.
By: Brent Wesley It's always nice to get out on the lake. May long weekend was perfect for that. Although I didn't catch any fish I had my camera with me to captures some images. I took this pic with my 200mm lens. It's cropped a bit, which I normally don't do, but in this case I think it called for it just to get a bit closer to the ducks.
By: Brent Wesley It's now been 3 months since returning from New Zealand. I just wanted to share this image of a Marae, a Maori traditional meeting home. It's similar to the Iroquois Longhouse, here in Canada. The Marae is used for meetings, weddings, funerals, feasting. All kinds of gatherings. Seen in this pic is a carving that represents one of the many tribes of the Maori. If a Maori from a different area visits another Marae they don't belong to, they sit by the carving of their tribe.
By: Brent Wesley I've been meaning to add a couple more photos from my trip to New Zealand. I've neglected to do so. But, with unseasonably warm weather and sun right now, I went back to my images, to remember the summer weather of New Zealand. I was there in December, summer over there. It was beautiful. Such a nice clean country, with lots to see. One day, I will return.
By: Brent Wesley My wife and I were in New Zealand for 3 full weeks over the Christmas holidays. It was awesome. This photo was taken at Orakei Korako - The Hidden Valley. It's the site of the BBC documentary, Walking with Dinosaurs. Amazing geothermal activity in this area of New Zealand. Lot's of volcanic activity, hot springs, but pungent with the smell of sulphur. This particular spot was my favourite because of the diversity of the area and the colour.
By: Brent Wesley It was a very interesting feel and look the day I took this picture. The falling snow was beautiful, the sun often sneaked through grey shadowy clouds. The snow glittered in the sun rays. It was interesting.
By: Brent Wesley Had some fun with a loaned 135mm lens from my esteemed colleague Chris Kornacki. Nice fast sharp lens. The only trouble I had was trying to focus on a moving object, in this case, an eagle.
By: Brent Wesley It's not ice, but this image sure invokes feelings of cold weather, which I'm sure is just around the corner. As the work day winds down, the sun is going down as well. This picture was taken at the end of the work day from a window.
