 | By: Brent Wesley It's now been 3 months since returning from New Zealand. I just wanted to share this image of a Marae, a Maori traditional meeting home. It's similar to the Iroquois Longhouse, here in Canada. The Marae is used for meetings, weddings, funerals, feasting. All kinds of gatherings. Seen in this pic is a carving that represents one of the many tribes of the Maori. If a Maori from a different area visits another Marae they don't belong to, they sit by the carving of their tribe. |
