A community meeting was held to discuss a potential mining exploration agreement in North Spirit Lake First Nation (NSLFN) at the Victoria Linklater Memorial School on Sept. 22. NSLFN Chief and Council invited Michael McDonald, a lawyer representing NSLFN, to talk with community members about a potential mining exploration agreement and the possible construction of a lithium mine on the first nation’s territory.

The company looking to do the exploration work, Frontier Lithium Inc., was formerly known as Houston Lake Mining Inc. McDonald, who is from the Peguis First Nation in Manitoba, with an office in Vancouver, described the potential exploration agreement as being in the very early stages and urged community members to discuss the potential agreement before any exploration occurs.
