State of emergency lifted in KI

November 19, 2009

Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) chief and council has lifted all the restrictive measures in place in the community Nov. 18.

A state of emergency was declared Nov. 12 resulting in the closures of schools and offices, banned community gatherings and the implementation of curfews.

At that time, there were 10 confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza.

There have been no new cases of the H1N1 virus reported in the last six days.

Six pandemic steering committee members continue to meet regularly to enforce precautionary measures.

KI chief and council and the pandemic steering committee are thankful to community members, businesses and programs for their cooperation and compliance when the restrictions were in place.
